Warning! My Husband and I came to South Carolina approximately 2 weeks ago to Close on our dream house in Moore, SC based on the advice and communication from a Mortgage Company by the name of Horizon Financial, owned by Scott Fowler, and our loan officer was Bob DeAngelo. After several weeks of signing docouments and faxing same back and forth and being assured and re-assured that the loan looked good, went through automated undewriting, they had a great repore with their lenders and underwriters, my husband and I were told by Bob DeAngelo the following Friday before the end of July, to drive up from Florida to close on the house that Tuesday or Wednesday of next week. After driving up to SC with a U-Haul with just our boxed items, two vehicles, we staying in a hotel for approximately 4 days only to be told by the VP of Operation at Horizon NOT to ever call there business again, that a denial letter from the Lender (M&I Lending) and (ACOPIA) had been sent out to us (we never received same); apparently they both wanted FUTURE DISABILITY PAYSTUBS FROM MY HUSBAND'S DISABILITY PROVIDER, AND since we could not provide such documentation, they denied our loan. Bob DeAngelo BLOCKED MY CELL NUMBER, from his phone, and owner, Scott Fowler refused to call me back at all! Like I said, I heard from the VP of Operations who told me never to call Horizon again, and HUNG UP ON ME! This was after we sold our home in Florida (as this was one of the contingencies for buying this home in SC), paid $450.00 for an appraisal, spent money on hotels, gas, movers, etc, not to mention WE ARE NOT HOMELESS! I contacted SC Consumer Affairs and I am awaiting their response to this tragedy! As I am a realtor in the State of Florida, and have bought and sold 5 of my own homes, I have never, ever seen anything like this, nor heard of a Mortgage Company that has ever treated anyone like this! I am very open to any ideas or remedies to this inexcusable incident, as it was quite a horrifying experience for my Husband and I to say the least....and I dont wish anything like this to ever happen to anyone else, and will whatever I can to make sure it never does!
